Lunch League Rules
USA Hockey Rules apply except as follows:
- Equality
- All skaters rostered for any particular game are entitled to approximately equal playing time regardless of rank. Player tardiness and penalized time are excluded.
- Blue Line Icing
- Teams may ice the puck from their own blue line
- Continuous Play Situations
- Goalie Covers Puck
- Play continues like delayed offside
- Double chirped whistle
- Offense must tag up as a team to the blue line
- Intentional offside may be called if offside players impede the play
- Defense must take possession below the goal line and continue play
- Defense has 3 seconds to continue play
- Last 2 minutes of game (plus overtime) will be stop time if within 2 goals AND will face-off ALL goalie stoppages
- Offside
- Play continues like delayed offside even if offense possesses the puck
- Double chirped whistle
- Offense must give up possession and tag up as a team to the blue line
- Intentional offside may be called if offside players impede the play
- Defense must take possession below the top of the circles and continue play
- Defense has 3 seconds to continue play
- Other Dead Puck Plays
- Single chirped whistle
- Face-Off
- Slapshot Windup Limit (D Division only)
- Knee height
- Goalie Covers Puck
- Game Length
- 5 minute pre-game warm-up
- Three 15 minute run-time periods
- Last 2 minutes of game will be stop time if within 2 goals
- Clock shall stop for any long delays due to injury or facility problems
- If possible, penalty time should freeze during faceoff stoppages
- Faceoffs
- 9 dot
- Timeouts
- Each team is allowed one 30-second timeout per game
- Timeouts may be called during a faceoff stoppage or during continuous "tag up" plays
- Neutral zone face-off after offensive timeout during continuous "tag up" play
- Final season chamionship and playoff games shall not end in a tie
- 5 minute stop time, 3v3 sudden death overtime period
- If tied after overtime, 3 round shootout
- If tied after 3 round shootout, successive single shootout rounds
- Teams must cycle through all shooters before shooters can repeat
- Each team shall have the same number of chances
- Penalties
- Players serving coincidental penalties may return directly to the bench once their penalty has expired
- Substitute Players
- 3 sub skaters plus a goalie sub are allowed per team per game
- Sub players must be equal or lesser ranked
- Subs for open draft pick roster spots count against the 3 sub skater limit
- Goalie subs may rank one level higher only after all equal and one level lower attempts fail with league administrator permission
- No unranked subs allowed
- A single under-ranked skater sub is allowed for each Playoff game
- No skater subs allowed for Championship games
- Subs are allowed for Consolation games
- League administrator must approve all player rankings
- All subs (name and number) must be added to the scoresheet
- Team captains are responsible to declare all subs to the scorekeeper
- Eligibility
- All Subs must sign in at the front desk
- Forfeiture
- Forfeit if sub skater is over-ranked or unranked
- Forfeit if team is unable to play at their designated start time
- Must field at least 5 players to play
- Trade Deadline
- Team rosters are frozen after the scheduled Trade Deadline
- Single under-ranked skater sub allowed for Playoff games
- No skater subs allowed for Championship games
